If there is any war I have ever been able to study, it’s WWII. I think the one thing that really hits me is how many people died. Six Million Jews were slaughtered and a many more, on top of that, died in combat. Now, I cant say I actually enjoy studying the war but I can bear it. I really don’t like to study the revolutionary war, or the Civil war. With WWII I can really see the breakdown of insanity. And some say it all started from a treaty that outlawed war.

The Army National Guard came to our school today and they were looking for recruits. I almost went up to the guy standing behind the table and asked him, “What if I don’t want to be responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent lives? Should I still sign up?.” We spend a lot of time protecting ourselves. We all have patriotism and pride in our country and we want to serve a good cause by protecting the people who don’t go to war. But what about the people we kill when we go to war? Who protects them? Hitler may have killed six million people or more but I say one life is enough. Men and women go out to war and they kill. That is their job. And what are they instructed? To hate the enemy, it must die. If anything can teach how wrong that is, it’s WWII. We can protect our country our lives but what about our soul. My soul means a whole lot more to me.
